Overview of Opportunity:
Utilizing hands-on accounting experience with an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, the Senior Staff Accountant will perform complex accounting activities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain professional and company standards;
- Working closely with management to prepare year end reporting packages;
- Maintaining regular contact with Management and provide updates;
- Communicate significant issues to manager and propose solutions when appropriate;
- Identify, investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports;
- Comfortable with excel and various accounting packages:
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes;
- Provide coaching, mentoring and training to junior team members;
Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent diploma or experience
- Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in public accounting performing similar work;
- Skills and Knowledge
- Superior time management skills: working efficiently;
- Comfortable with financial statements and posting journal entries:
- Comfortable working through software modules, AP, AR, CM, JC and GL:
- Solid understanding of business, accounting, and management principles;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively convey messages and collect information;
- High degree of professionalism and the ability to build rapport with peers and business contacts.
- Experience with owner-managed, small to mid-size businesses;
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 300 and Yardi would be an asset;
- Experience in the ICI Construction and Development Industry would be an asset.
